The Emerging Artist Award 2021

Now in its THIRD year, The Emerging Artist Award is designed to award artists and makers (from the UK), that show potential and talent, using exciting mediums and a strong theme throughout their work. This award is open to artists and makers of all ages and career paths, whether professional, amateur, student or graduate, and based in the United Kingdom.

Works to be considered for this award covers; Fine Art, Sculpture, Photography, Ceramics, Illustration, Textiles, Glass, Jewellery, Digital Media, and works that contain Mixed Media.

This award aims to build and support the careers of creative individuals and promotes their work so that it is marketed to a broader audience.

You can apply from Tuesday 3rd November 2020 and entries will close on Sunday 22nd December 2020.

People’s Choice Award - £500+

4th Prize: Open to all categories and mediums of work

• £100 cash prize

• Exhibition of your work in the Creates Emerging Artist Show 2021

Main Entry Details:

1. There is no restriction on the artist regarding age, training, ability or nationality.

2. Entries from UK residents only.

3. All types of art, except for the performing arts and film, are accepted for this competition.

4. The artist must not have exclusive representation by a gallery or consultant elsewhere, to enter this art competition.

5. Artwork size must be less than 150cm x 150cm for artworks to be hung on the walls, and less than 100cm x 100cm x 100cm for sculptures. If you are unsure, please contact us.

6. Once you have completed the online entry form, you will be sent to the payment page to pay the entry fee. Please select the correct payment option.

7. Entry Fee is £20 for first artwork, then £10 per additional artwork, up to a maximum of five artworks.

8. Large image files can be sent to us via wetransfer.com to our email info@createsmagazine.com.

Timetable

The competition consists of two stages.

First stage:

Entries must be made via the online form.

• Opens Tuesday 3rd November 2020.

• Deadline for entries is midnight Sunday 22nd January 2021.

• Shortlisted artists will be notified by 1at February 2021 and invited to deliver/send in the chosen artworks to Creates Monmouth, by 8th February 2021, for exhibiting and final stages of judging.

*These dates may change to due to any extensions to lockdown in Wales

Second stage:

• Shortlisted artists will be announced to the public on 11th February 2021.

• The shortlisted Exhibition will be on display to the public from 12th February to 29th March 2021.

Judging will take place and the first, second and third prize winners will be announced at the opening of the exhibition. The 'people's choice award' will be announced at the end of the exhibition on.

• 22nd January 2021, 11:59 pm: Final Closing Date for entries

• 8th February 2021: Shortlisted artists to deliver the original artworks to Creates Gallery, Monmouth

• 12th February 2021: Prize winners will be announced to the public at the launch of the exhibition

• 12th February to 29th March 2021: Creates Gallery Emerging Artists Award Exhibition

• 29th March 2021: People's Choice Award winner announced

• 29th & 30th March 2021: Collection of works not sold from Creates Monmouth
