Open Art Competition 2020

In light of current unprecedented times Creates Gallery has launched The Open Art Competition to support artists and makers across the UK The winner of this competition will be awarded a cash prize to support them financially during this difficult time for the art industry, and they will also feature in a special edition of Creates Magazine worth over £500. In addition to this, their work will be added to our online art exhibition where their work will be for sale (please see our online gallery to see how this works). Works will be marketed to the public via our website, social media, mailing list (5,000+) and loyal clients along with other entries from this award. Artists will be judged by the public where participants will judge them on their medium of work, representation of their theme throughout their work and how they present themselves as an artist. The winner will need to win the most online votes and this will be announced at the end of the competition.

This award is open to artists and makers of all ages and career paths, whether professional, amateur, student or graduate, and based in the United Kingdom.

Works to be considered for this award covers; Fine Art, Sculpture, Photography, Ceramics, Illustration, Textiles, Glass, Jewellery, Digital Media, and works that contain Mixed Media.

You can apply from Wednesday 29th April 2020 and entries will close on Sunday 31st May 2020.

Competition Prize

First Prize - Starting at £250

  • £250 cash prize - this prize will increase with the number of entries to the competition

  • Feature Creates Magazine (worth £500)

  • Exhibition of your work on our online art exhibtion marketed to over 100,000 art buyers


Main Entry Details:

  1. There is no restriction on the artist regarding age, training, ability or nationality.

  2. Entries from UK residents only.

  3. All types of art, except for the performing arts and film, are accepted for this competition.

  4. No limits to the size of the artwork.

  5. Once you have completed the online entry form, you will be sent to the payment page to pay the entry fee. Please select the correct payment option.

  6. Entry Fee is £5 per work and up to a maximum of 6 artworks.

  7. Large image files can be sent to us via wetransfer.com to our email info@createsmagazine.com.

Timetable

The competition consists of two stages.

First stage:

Entrants must be made via the online form.

  • Opens Friday 29th April 2020. Deadline for entries is midnight Sunday 31st May 2020.

  • Shortlisted artists will be notified by Monday 1st June 2020 and works will be added to our online art exhibtion by 5th June 2020.

  • Shortlisted artists will be announced to the public on 5th June 2020.

  • The shortlisted Exhibition will be on display to the public online from 5th June to 3rd July 2020.

Second stage:

Public judging will take place at the opening of the exhibition. Votes will be casted online where the public will vote on their favourite. works.

  • All works must be available and for sale throughout the exhibition, where the gallery will take 50% commission on sales.

  • 29th April 2020: Open for entries via the online form

  • 31st May 2020, 11:59 pm: Final Closing Date for entries

  • 5th June 2020: Shortlisted artists to be announced via online exhibition

  • 5th June to 3rd July 2020: Open Art Online Exhibition

  • 3rd July 2020: Winner announced
