Kip Kavallares
Kip Kavallares is a self taught artist who is not afraid to mix up his styles when approaching a project. He chooses not to concern himself too heavily with true representation, but more on colours and gestural mark making. His works include vibrant multi layered colours which in some pieces he strips back to revealing the layers beneath, expressive brush strokes, scrapes and drips,
His art ranges from semi representational to abstract expressionism being prepared to tackle many different topics and styles. However if he was to single out a particular genre as the one he enjoys the most both to look at and experiment with, It would be abstract expression. Work from the likes of Jackson Pollock, John Hoyland the British Abstract painter from the late 60’s and 70's, Howard Hodgkin along with Hans Hoffman from the 50's have all influenced some of his abstracts.
In 2016 he received awards from the American Art Awards international competition in two categories and again this year in 2017 for his semi abstract still life “Pond Life”. He has recently appeared in “House and Gardens” magazine as well as August’s edition of “Cotswolds life” magazine.
