Angela Palmer started her career in biological research, but after her children grew up she began to focus on her passion for the study of the human figure. Her sculptures and life drawings have been on show in numerous galleries in Wales, Bristol and the South West including the Royal West of England Academy, and her work is in many private collections. Angela currently tutors life classes in Brockweir in the Wye Valley.
“My sculpture is a direct response to the human form and amounts to an exploration of that invisible connection which exists between the artist and the model”.
“I aim to catch through the inclination of the head, or the tilt of the shoulders a spiritual connection to the humanity of the sitter. Most are sculptures of women and they are created in my studio working with the model.”
Angela makes the sculpture in clay and it is then cast in bronze resin ( a technique using metal powder and resin), in an edition of around 20 pieces, although commissions may be cast in bronze metal. The bronze resin sculptures are suitable for garden settings and interiors.
