Originally from Northern Ireland, I studied Visual Communication at the University of Ulster in Belfast, obtaining a BA (Hons) 1st in 2001. I then moved to Llanishen in Monmouthshire with my husband and began an enjoyable and successful 15 year career in children's book illustration. In 2018 I decided to take a change of direction and after an enjoyable contemporary landscape painting course with three leading Cornish painters I started my new career as a painter. I was delighted to sell my first painting at the RWA 166th Open Exhibition in November and since then have enjoyed the experience of painting with a freedom and spontaneity so refreshing after many years of tight deadlines and the constraints of book illustration! Today I try to paint outdoors every week as well as in the studio, and I find the challenge of painting in whatever the weather gods throw at me has helped me to develop my style and keep my work fresh and new.
