This painting is about the painting within the painting. It is of me in the 1980s, and was painted by my niece and I have always loved it. The jug was one of the many jugs left to me by my mother, I feel it has a new identy as the birds remind me of tattoos that men would get in the army.

My paintings offer the viewer a window into my life, the images that surrounded me as a child within the spaces I lived. My surroundings were an eclectic mix of engaging visual treats for my séances.
I am interested in the history of objects and the familiarity I feel when I look at them, they represent a connection to people, places and a specific time. Many of my belongings hold family associations, they all have their own individual narrative linking to memory, meaning and emotion.
Within the paintings I am presenting a new version of my past as well as creating a new life for the objects in a different, altered interior.
Pattern, colour and shape are a central part of my work and I assemble the images together using still life, photographs and found images, piecing them together to create a composition.
